The IT Management Suite 7.5 SP1 release includes the updated ITMS Management Views (formerly known as Enhanced Console Views).
This ITMS Management Views preview adds new capabilities for filters and targets.
The new capabilities for the filters are as follows:
- Create and configure new filters. An expandable list of filters and a filter editor are now available in the Management Views in the Computers view. When you create a new filter, it includes all the computers in your system. In the filter editor, you can combine multiple search criteria to search for specific computers. New default criteria have been added to the filter criteria list. You can also configure and add the custom criteria. After you create a filter and update the list of computers, you can export and save this list as a CSV file.
- Include or exclude static lists of computers or filters. In addition to specifying the filter criteria, you can include or exclude a static list of computers or filters. In the Include Computer List dialog box, you can use all the filter criteria to search for specific computers and add them to your Include or Exclude list. You can also import a list of computers that you have saved as a CSV file.
- Configure a filter in SQL. You view the filter as SQL. In the Raw SQL editor, you can create and configure a SQL query manually, or copy and paste a query from another source. After you have created the query, you can test it to ensure that it returns the correct result.
- Save the filter and view the filter summary. You can save the filters to reuse the set of criteria that you have configured. The saved filters are displayed in the Filters list. For saved filters, you can expand the filter summary view for additional details about the computers in the filter. You can view the details about each individual computer, such as the jobs, tasks, and policies that target this computer, and the software components that are installed on it.
- Show or hide filters, and collect them in the Favorites folder. To optimize your workspace, you can hide the folders and filters that you don’t use frequently. This does not affect the actual folder or filter content, and you can make them visible again at any time. Also, you can collect the most frequently used filters in the Favorites folder for faster access. The filter / folder visibility settings and the Favorites folder arrangement are unique for each individual user.
- Make a filter into a target. You can convert a filter into a target, or drag and drop a filter to include the filter results for this particular target.
The new capabilities for targets are as follows:
- Create and configure new targets. Expandable lists of targets and a target editor are now available in the Management Views, in the Computers view. When you create a new target, it is always empty. In the target editor, you can add the filters, groups or lists of computers to add specific computers to the target.
- Save the target and view the computer details. You can save the targets to reuse the set of criteria that you have configured. The saved targets are displayed in the Targets list. For saved targets, you can view the details about each individual computer, such as the jobs, tasks, and policies that target this computer, and the software components that are installed on it.
- Show or hide targets, and collect them in the Favorites folder. To optimize your workspace, you can hide the folders and targets that you don’t use frequently. This does not affect the actual folder or target content, and you can make them visible again at any time. Also, you can collect the most frequently used targets in the Favorites folder for faster access. The target / folder visibility settings and the Favorites folder arrangement are unique for each individual user.
- Check the target dependencies. To check if a particular target has any dependencies, right-click a target, and then click Dependencies. If you want to delete a target with dependencies, you need to delete the dependencies first.
The Configure the load on demand settings functionality lets you customize your Console interface. You can regulate how many items in a tree are displayed or collapsed to ensure faster performance and easier access.
