Chrome does not show in AddRemProg

You could notice, that when you install Google Chrome, it may not show in ARP Inventory.

Google Chrome Enterprise installs under Program Files and then is properly scanned by Software Inventory scan.

Nevertheless, standard user (without admin privileges) can still install Google Chrome.

In that case, installation goes to user profile, and only that user can see Chrome in his instance of ARP.

No other user can see that installation via ARP, and that's why Altiris ARP Inventory is not aware of that.

That can be easily adjusted:

  • Open Inventory Task, click on Advanced button.
  • Go to Run Options tab.
  • Select Run Inventory as Logged in user

When you collect inventory then, ARP will have Google Chrome included. You can even see user's profile name as marked below.

TIP: If multiple users are sharing a machine, you may need to execute that scan several times.

Note that installation is done in current user's profile under AppData\Local\Google\Chrome folder:

Should you like to see Google Chrome files also in File Audit Inventory, you must include APPDATA folder (which is by default excluded.)

  • Open Inventory Task, click on Advanced button.
  • Go to File Properties Scan Settings tab.
  • Select Folders and have *APPDATA* included:

Consider impact - more scans would produce more data to be processed by your server and database.

(These workarounds are only needed when you have non-Enterprise (user installed) edition of Google Chrome.)
