How to assign security to a Role so that it can open the Resource Selector in order to either add or exclude resources to a collection?
01 | Create a Role with these Global Privileges. |
| |
02 | Create a tree structure which will provide the user with this view, by removing inheritance from the relevant areas. |
| |
03 | Assign the following permissions to the Role on the Resource Management folder, which will be inherited down the tree. |
| |
04 | Assign the following permissions to the Role on the Local Admin folder, after removing inheritance and copying the existing Roles. |
| |
05 | Create a collection in the Area folder and assign the Role these permissions (cloning and moving is also possible). |
| |
06 | Create another collection in the Area folder and assign the Role these permissions (cloning and moving is also possible). |
| |
07 | Log onto the Altiris Console as a user that belongs to the Role, and start creating a new Secured Collection. You will find that you will be able to select a collection for its scope, as well as select a collection as an inclusion or exclusion. |
| |
08 | Now open the Resource Selector so that you can manually include or exclude a resource. |
| |
09 | As you can see, it seems that we do not have permission to the Resource Type dropdown list. |
10a | Navigate to the following location within the Altiris Console and assign the Role permission to the object. |
10b | Reports Tab -> Reports -> Notification Server Infrastructure -> Server -> Resource Reports -> Computers |
